These adorable ornaments are handmade in Madagascar and are sure to add a special touch to any Christmas tree. Made from raffia, a palm tree that grows in Africa, the green trees with natural stitching are perfect for stocking stuffers, gifts, or keeping for yourself.
In collaboration with Boo Enterprise/Ravinala, these ornaments are made by a ladies cooperative and social enterprise in the mountains of Madagascar. Each one may have slight variations - as it is individually made and unique.
Each ornament goes through a several step process and passes through several hands before landing in yours. First, the sustainably harvested raffia is dyed using traditional artisan methods. Next, the raffia is woven by a husband and wife team using hand weaving techniques and a loom. Then, the fabric is cut and sewn by the women at Boo Enterprise.
