Use it as a wallet, use it as a clutch! Add a pop of color to your outfit with this beautiful Madagascar wallet - handmade from the fibers of raffia tree leaves and with a coconut closure!
Each wallet goes through a several step process and passes through about ten hands before landing in yours. First, the sustainably harvested raffia is dyed using traditional artisan methods. Next, the raffia is woven by a husband and wife team using hand weaving techniques and a loom. Then, the fabric is cut and sewn by the women at Boo Enterprise.
You can watch the process here and here.
These wallets are made in collaboration with Boo Enterprise/Ravinala, a ladies cooperative and social enterprise in the mountains of Madagascar. Each one may have slight variations - as it is individually made and unique.
